SHANGHAI, China – Hilton (NYSE:HLT) announces the opening of Hilton Shanghai City Center, marking the return of its award-winning flagship brand to the heart of Shanghai.

Situated between the dynamic Jing'an and Changning – Shanghai's premier entertainment and shopping districts – Hilton Shanghai City Center seamlessly blends rich cultural heritage with modernity, transporting guests to the intersection of new and old Shanghai. The hotel is owned and developed by Shanghai Yuchang Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. and operated and managed by Hilton.

“The opening of Hilton Shanghai City Center reflects our continued confidence in the strength of the China market where one in three hotel rooms under construction bears a Hilton flag. Shanghai holds incredible historical significance for us as Hilton’s first location in China, where we now operate over 700 properties. We are thrilled to extend our signature hospitality to even more guests here in Shanghai and many more destinations across the country,” said Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific, Hilton.

Located in the heart of Shanghai along the prime stretch of Yan'an West Road, Hilton Shanghai City Center offers convenient access to major transport hubs, central business districts, and iconic landmarks such as Jing’an Temple, Wukang Mansion, People’s Square, and the Shanghai Exhibition Center. Its prime location makes it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers. Guests can explore historic alleys like Yuyuan Road or visit trendy retail complexes offering a mix of dining, entertainment, and shopping options. At Hilton Shanghai City Center, the timeless charm of classic architecture is elegantly contrasted with modern interiors, creating a harmonious blend of vibrant local culture and modern urban living.

In 1988, Huashan Road became the first home of Hilton Shanghai, marking not only the debut of Hilton in China but also the introduction of the city’s first five-star hotel managed by an international hospitality company. “Back then, nothing gave our guests more pride than hosting a meal over Hilton’s international buffet or at the Western restaurant. In the 1990s, we looked beyond borders to invite Michelin-starred luminaries from various countries as guest chefs. Having redefined culinary and service standards, we continue to set the benchmark for hospitality today with the grand return of our flagship brand”, said Alexandra Jaritz, senior vice president, Brand Management, Asia Pacific, Hilton.

Experience Shanghainese hospitality

Embodying Hilton’s founding vision of spreading the light and warmth of hospitality, Hilton Shanghai City Center continues this legacy by offering guests an immersive experience. From the moment they step through the doors, they are greeted with a warm welcome in Shanghainese and enveloped in the city's unique charm.

The design of Hilton Shanghai City Center seamlessly blends Chinese and Western elements, drawing inspiration from Shanghai’s iconic old villas while preserving features such as the original building’s pipe organ. The hotel connects guests to Shanghai’s heritage through their senses. At check-in, guests receive a gardenia-scented "City in an Hour" map for a self-guided tour of the city’s diverse offerings. The experience is further enriched with a welcome drink infused with White Rabbit candy, a nostalgic milk-based sweet wrapped in sticky rice paper.

Modelled after elegant Italian courtyards, Osteria Twelve 16's interior design is inspired by the refined silhouettes of Haipai architecture, a style unique to Shanghai, encapsulating the city’s distinctive charm. The Espresso Bar within Osteria Twelve 16 offers a selection of Italian espressos and cocktails, perfect for relaxed conversations. The restaurant also features two private dining rooms, Amaretto and Limoncello, named after classic Italian liqueurs, offering an exclusive and intimate dining experience.
