Hilton Named One of Australia’s Best Companies to Work For by Great Place to Work® Institute for the Fifth Consecutive Year

Hilton - Great Place to Work Australia 2023

SYDNEY, Australia – Hilton has been recognised by the Great Place to Work® Institute as one of Australia’s best companies to work for in 2023, placing second on the top 50 list for companies with over 1,000 employees and the number one hospitality company to work for in Australia. This marks the fifth time that Hilton has been named on this prestigious list.

This accolade builds on the Australasia Great Place to Work certifications awarded in New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea for the second year in a row and reaffirms Hilton’s achievement as the top hospitality company to work for in Asia since 2017.

Paul Hutton, area vice president and head of Australasia, Hilton, said, “We are delighted to have been once again recognised by the Great Place to Work® Institute as the leading hospitality company to work for in Australia. This recognition further underscores the high trust and engagement of our team members and is incredible testament to our purpose-driven workplace culture that we are so proud of.”

Mary Hogg, regional director, human resources, Australasia, Hilton, added, “This accolade is an attribute to our team members who are the heart and soul of everything that we do at Hilton and who continue to deliver exceptional guest experiences. In return, we take the time to invest in our culture to ensure we can provide the best workplace environment that enables our team members to thrive.”

Hilton creates almost 2,500 employment opportunities each year across its Australasia corporate office and hotels across Australia in the following locations: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Albany, Surfers Paradise, Cairns, and the Northern Territory.

NOTES TO EDITOR

In Australia, Hilton’s leading practices and programmes that contribute to a strong team culture include:

Thrive@Hilton

  • In 2017, Hilton introduced Thrive@Hilton which completely evolves the way Hilton works and leads by creating more time for what matters most to team members so they can be at their best every day. The initiative aims to improve the health and happiness of all team members in Body, Mind and Spirit. This includes giving all team members access to a state-of-the-art app, which allows them to explore self-care tools, skill building programs, as well as live coaching support.
  • Flexible work practices allow for customisation and personalisation to meet the distinct needs of each team member’s lifestyle, their location and their role, to encourage work/life balance. Examples of the various options team members have include work-from-home, flexible scheduling, compressed workweek, flexitime, job sharing, and part-time working options.
  • Initiatives such as Thrive Sabbatical which gives team members the opportunity to apply for a month-long paid sabbatical to empower team members to live or give a dream, take time to care for themselves, or grow their skills to deliver even better stays. Alternatively, Thrive Reset gives team members an opportunity to “pause” – a chance to recharge during the year. Ten selected team members will receive one week of paid time off and USD $2,000.

Travel with Purpose

  • Hilton’s ESG strategy, Travel with Purpose, provides team members the opportunity to give back to the community in which they operate and to develop local solutions that help reduce Hilton’s environmental footprint, allowing guests to travel more sustainably and responsibly.
  • In 2022 team members across Australasia collectively achieved over 2,500 hours of volunteer work across more than 200 volunteer events and donation activities to positively impact local communities.

Celebrating diversity

  • Hilton strives to provide a workplace where team members can be themselves – regardless of their gender, preferences, ethnicity or cultural background and have created several Team Member Resource Groups which focus on various topics, and that allow for empowerment, engagement opportunities, open conversation, education, and much more.
  • In April 2021, Hilton announced its goal to achieve global gender parity at their corporate leadership levels by the end of 2027. In Australasia, currently 57% of their senior corporate leaders are female.
  • Hilton and charity organisation, Minus18, recently announced a nationwide partnership that aims to give more LGBTQIA+ young people in Australia the right to free, inclusive and empowering school formals. Hilton’s support will see an expanded footprint for Minus18’s Queer Formals program, enabling it to roll out in new cities and regional areas nationally from 2024, with the hope of providing LGBTQIA+ youth nationwide the opportunity to experience their school formal as their authentic selves.

Opportunities for development

  • Career conversations are prioritised across the business and are supported by easily accessible resources, including from LinkedIn Learning, eCornell, and Harvard online. In addition, team members have access to hundreds of Hilton University courses which continue to support team member learning and development.
  • With job opportunities to fit various skill sets and passions, there are a number of roles available within different functions such as Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Sales, Marketing, Front Office, Events, Reservations, and much more. Visit careers.hilton.com to learn more.
