Sustainable Innovation at Millennium Hilton Bangkok

In 2016, Millennium Hilton Bangkok began a project to divert leftover bottled water from meetings and events to irrigate the hotel’s gardens. The project has significantly reduced water usage at the hotel, contributing to Hilton’s Travel with Purpose 2030 Goal to reduce water consumption by 50%.

Team Members continue to explore additional solutions to reduce the property’s environmental impact. Solar panels were installed in 2018 to heat water, along with sensors to reduce unnecessary use of electricity in the premises.

Beyond system changes, the team conducts regular Sustainability Audits. These sessions aim to engage and remind Team Members of the power of daily small actions to reduce their environmental impact, such as recycling and reducing single-use plastic through using reusable cups and bottles. Team Members also enjoy discounts when purchasing beverages from nearby cafes using the hotel’s reusable bottles.

The hotel is also one of the first to partner ThaiHarvest food bank to divert excess buffet food to nearby communities in need. The hotel has supported ThaiHarvest and the community with food equivalent to more than 23,000 portions in just a year.
