Marcus DC at The Morrow Hotel - chef

Washington, D.C., is home to one of the most exhilarating dining scenes in the world, with a melting pot of global flavors. And now, through a groundbreaking collaboration with award-winning chef, restaurateur, and author Marcus Samuelsson, The Morrow Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, is home to one of the District’s most coveted dining reservations: Marcus DC.

As part of The Morrow’s overarching mission to elevate its food and beverage programming throughout the hotel, the property has partnered with Marcus Samuelsson Group on  three distinctive dining venues—Sly, Marcus DC, and soon, Goodie Lounge— that showcase a patchwork of flavors, expert technique, and family memories that blend beautifully into the culinary experience.

Here are the unique epicurean experiences waiting to be devoured at The Morrow Hotel.

Marcus DC: Where Culture, Flavor, and Legacy Collide

The recently opened Marcus DC is the soul of the hotel’s new culinary lineup. It’s a high-energy, high-style restaurant where cross-cultural cooking takes center stage. The menu is dedicated to showcasing modern American cuisine with Black culinary traditions from DC to Ethiopia and beyond. Signature standouts, such as Blue Cornbread with Yassa butter and berbere honey, mambo-sauced roast chicken, dry-aged tomahawk steak, and “Swediopian” cured salmon (a nod to Samuelsson’s Ethiopian roots and Swedish upbringing), showcase the chef’s signature approach to creating cuisine that is globe-spanning, memory-driven, and rooted in joy.

Executive Chef Anthony Jones adds his unique Maryland-inspired flair to dishes such as Mel’s Crab Rice, served with hot sauce-pickled okra and uni béarnaise, a flavorful ode to the Chesapeake Bay that blends robust flavors and a balance of tradition and reinvention. The dessert menu also brings cultural nuances to the table with sweet treats like Praline Coconut Cake and Plum Almond Teff Cake.

Inside, Marcus DC is a visual feast. The décor brings the restaurant to life with story, rhythm, and movement, making it a place to see and be seen. For diners, the experience is more than a meal; it’s an immersive celebration of heritage and hospitality.

Sly: A Rooftop Cocktail Bar That’s Anything but Subtle

Now open is Sly, a rooftop bar where skyline views meet a sultry ambiance. It’s a dreamy destination designed to soak up sublime views of golden hour sunsets while enjoying inventive cocktails like the Lychee Martini or Blackberry Old Fashioned. Here, libations are served alongside elevated bar snacks that make for an idyllic end to any exciting evening.

Playful and stylish, Sly invites flavor seekers to sip under the stars with a fresh perspective on DC nightlife. Whether kicking off a night out or winding down from a day filled with exploration, this is the perfect perch above the city's buzz.

Goodie Lounge: A Spirited Spot for Gatherings and Good Times

Opening later this year, Goodie Lounge promises to be a fashionable hideaway for intimate events, curated cocktails, and spontaneous celebrations. Located on the hotel’s 11th floor, it’s designed as a dual-purpose space that’s equal parts cocktail lounge and private event venue.

No matter the occasion, those who gather here will find that it’s infused with the Marcus Samuelsson Group’s signature sense of fun, flavor, and flair. With panoramic views, plush interiors, and a cocktail program that nods to heritage and innovation, Goodie Lounge is set to become DC’s next favorite venue for trendsetters near and far.

Elevated Dining in the Heart of NoMa

With this fresh new lineup of dining options, The Morrow Hotel is raising the bar on hotel dining. Whether indulging in a soulful dinner, toasting on a rooftop, or planning an unforgettable celebration, diners can taste the vision of Marcus Samuelsson like never before as they delight in flavors that can’t be found anywhere else in the city.
