SHANGHAI, China – Hilton (NYSE: HLT), Asia’s fastest-growing hospitality company, has been once again recognized as one of the “Best Workplaces in Greater China” by Great Place to Work®. It is the ninth consecutive year that Hilton has received this prestigious award.
“Being named as one of the ‘Best Workplaces in Greater China’ for nine consecutive years serves not only as a testament to our strong workplace culture, but also reflects the deep recognition and sense of belonging of our team members,” said Qian Jin, president, Greater China & Mongolia, Hilton. “This honor belongs to all our 35,000 team members in Greater China who have worked tirelessly to make this achievement possible. With the rapid development and growth of our business, we will continue to provide more opportunities for our team members, and invest in our culture to ensure we can provide the best workplace experience that enables our team members to thrive.”
Centered around a framework of four key pillars, Hilton is dedicated to creating a workplace culture of inclusion, wellness, growth, and purpose. Driven by a localized talent development strategy, Hilton continuously offers career opportunities to local Chinese talents and contributes to talent cultivation in the hospitality industry. As of November 2023, over 94% of general managers in Hilton Greater China hotels are Chinese, and nearly 70% of these general managers have been internally promoted or transferred.
Led by a ‘fast track’ for women leadership development program, the proportion of women general managers in Greater China hotels has exceeded 27%, moving Hilton closer to its goal of 30% by 2025. This has been buoyed by more women team members participating in a variety of talent development and leadership enhancement programs.
Exemplifying its founding vision to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality by creating a positive impact in the community, Hilton is also creating job opportunities for diverse talent groups. Currently, more than 2% of team members in Hilton Greater China hotels are differently abled.
Guided by “Thrive at Hilton”, an ecosystem of programs that support team members through their career, Hilton Greater China has implemented various localized measures in China to support the well-being of team members, encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual health.
- In 2023, Hilton Greater China launched the “Hilton Wellbeing” Platform, a one-stop resource for corporate and hotel team members. This platform provides team members with customized benefits in health care, mental health, and financial planning, and integrates global resources, including the “Go Hilton” team member travel discount program.
- Earlier this year, Hilton Greater China expanded its supplemental insurance to include hospital care and convenient medical services for both team members and their families, helping team members to build a better support system for their loved ones.
Christine Wang, vice president, Human Resources, Hilton Greater China & Mongolia, said, “At Hilton, we are committed to enhancing our workplace environment to help our team members thrive in body, mind and spirit, enabling them to realize their potential and shine as individuals. Receiving this prestigious award reaffirms the faith and trust our team members have in us and we will continue to uphold this confidence by delivering a truly human experience to all.”
In 2023, Great Place to Work® surveyed over 280 companies across dimensions of leadership, corporate culture, and trust, ultimately selecting 54 companies for the “Best Workplaces in Greater China” list. Since its first recognition in the “Best Workplaces in Greater China” list in 2015, Hilton has continually fostered an excellent workplace culture, and was granted the honor of “The Legend” by Great Place to Work® in 2020 for five consecutive years of selection. Moreover, since the launch of the Great Place to Work® “Best Workplaces for Women in Greater China™” list in 2019, Hilton achieved this distinction in its first year and has been on the list for four consecutive years.
In November 2023, Hilton was named the #1 World’s Best Workplace by “Great Place to Work®”. This recognition – the culmination of eight consecutive appearances on the “World’s Best” list – also marks the first time a hospitality company has achieved the top honor in this best-in-class program. Hilton has continued to build its strong culture through an unwavering focus on creating a workplace for 460,000 team members around the world that offers strong growth opportunities, is driven by purpose, and provides the kind of support that empowers team members to thrive at Hilton.
