The Launch of Hilton’s Travel with Purpose 2030 Goals

This Week in Hilton History

In May 2018, Hilton launched its Travel with Purpose 2030 Goals, becoming the first major hotel company to institute science-based carbon reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative. Hilton also became the first major hotel company to set the goal to send zero soap to landfill and committed to doubling its investment in social impact and cutting its environmental footprint in half by 2030. The commitment is part of the company’s industry-leading Travel with Purpose corporate responsibility strategy to further the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. To fulfill these commitments and redefine sustainable travel and tourism, Hilton continues to explore new ways to reduce environmental impact and strengthen communities. Through the industry’s largest soap recycling program, our soap has been recycled into more than 11.6 million new soap bars distributed to people in need in 127 countries – representing more than 3.1 million pounds of waste diverted from landfill. Last year, Hilton also logged more than 235,000 Team Member volunteer hours in local communities across 93 countries during its 2018 Global Week of Service.
