CHARLOTTE, N.C. and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton (NYSE:HLT) and Tara Investments announced today the groundbreaking for Canopy by Hilton Charlotte SouthPark. Scheduled to open in spring 2020, this is the latest property to break ground for Hilton’s lifestyle brand, which has been redefining the hospitality category since the first Canopy by Hilton opened in 2016. The 150-room property will provide a new approach to thoughtfully local experiences in SouthPark’s upscale neighborhood.
Situated in the affluent neighborhood of SouthPark, six miles from the core of Uptown Charlotte, Canopy Charlotte SouthPark will be the first Canopy hotel in North Carolina. The area is geographically centered around the 1.8-million-square-foot SouthPark Mall and is one of the largest business districts in Charlotte and the state of North Carolina with more than 40,000 employees.

Locally Inspired Design
Once the site of a thriving dairy farm, Canopy Charlotte SouthPark’s design inspiration draws from the heritage of the neighborhood, with millwork finishes, marble countertops and subtle earth tones throughout the property’s interiors. The hotel’s 150 “Just Right” guest rooms, include 16 suites, featuring handpicked furnishings and artwork to reflect the architectural design of the SouthPark neighborhood. The hotel will also house an art collection influenced by the local community.
Food & Drink from the Neighborhood
The Canopy Central Café and Bar function together, featuring a menu based on fresh, quality products that aim to utilize local and seasonal ingredients. A blend of healthy choices with locally inspired savory and indulgent sweet options will appeal to the modern traveler.
The Canopy brand has created a positive experience for guests with the bar program for Canopy Central. Canopy Central will also be open to the SouthPark community, featuring signature-crafted cocktails, a diverse wine selection and local brews to provide an experience that epitomizes SouthPark.
Just-Right Meeting Space
Located on Barclay Downs Drive, Canopy Charlotte SouthPark offers a refined and relaxed Canopy Central, plus extensive meeting and event space with wedding capabilities. Guests will have access to 9,000 total square feet of meeting space, including the Grand Ballroom and smaller breakout rooms that can be easily transformed for team building exercises or intimate settings. The property features an English garden inspired event space that can be combined with the Grand Ballroom. In addition to complimentary Wi-Fi, the hotel will offer a Transfer Lounge enabling guests to relax, change clothes and store luggage in lieu of an extended checkout or early arrival.
Ideal for meetings and events, Canopy Charlotte SouthPark is located six miles from Uptown Charlotte. The hotel belongs to a neighborhood considered the luxury shopping destination of the Carolinas. SouthPark is geographically centered at the intersection of Fairview Road and Sharon Road in the South Central sector of the city and is a valued residential area with luxury custom housing, larger properties with established trees and sidewalks, as well as mixed-use shopping and residential centers.
