MCLEAN, Va. - School boy Thomas became the envy of classmates as he was picked up from his home and chauffeured to school by McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris. During the school run, Thomas, from Surrey, UK, had the opportunity to ask Norris a range of questions, including whether he thought Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton was the better F1 racer. The journey was featured as a part of a YouTube video that has attracted more than 1.5 million views.
Thomas’s dad bid for the celebrity school run via the Hilton Honors Experience platform, which offers Members the chance to bid for or buy once-in-a-lifetime experiences with Points, making memories to last a lifetime. In addition to other McLaren Racing experiences, members can choose from exclusive events with their favourite artist or sports team, delicious dining experiences, incredible cultural trips, and more.
McLaren Formula 1 Driver Lando Norris said, “Swapping the race track for Thomas’s school run was great fun — even if he did put me on the spot a bit with his questions! Having started out karting at the age of seven myself, it’s always a pleasure to meet and inspire future generations. On the journey to school it was clear that Thomas is a huge F1 fan and I hope he enjoyed the experience.”
Heather Laverne, vice president, loyalty & enterprise marketing at Hilton said, “More than ever, we’re craving new experiences that will make memories that last a lifetime, and Thomas’s heart-warming story is a great example of how Hilton Honors is doing just that. We’re thrilled to see that Lando and Thomas had such a great school run together — as well as putting Dad Gareth in pole position to claim to be the world’s best dad! We can’t wait to make more unforgettable memories for other Honors members through our experiences platform.”
