Scholar Hotel Group Opens New Hotel in State College, Pa.

Newly renovated historic property features extended‑stay rooms with convenient location

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Scholar Hotel Group, a leader in the hospitality industry specializing in hotels on or near college campuses, proudly announces the opening of its newest property in State College, Pa., on Jan. 15, 2021. Located in the heart of downtown and one block from The Pennsylvania State University, Scholar Hotel State College feature’s 72 extended-stay guest rooms, 1,250 square feet of meeting space, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a lobby marketplace. Scholar Hotel State College joins Tapestry Collection, one of Hilton’s 18 market-leading brands and part of the award-winning Hilton Honors guest loyalty program. 

Scholar Hotel State College is located at 205 East Beaver Avenue in the historic Glennland Building. The Glennland Building, built in 1933, is on the National Register of Historic Places and, when originally constructed, contained the first and only indoor pool in Central Pennsylvania. The history of the building is honored throughout the interiors of the Scholar Hotel’s lobby. 

Scholar Hotel Group acquired the historic Glennland Building in 2019 and, after extensive renovations, the newly purposed property has been designed for both overnight guests and those with extended-stay hotel needs. It features guest rooms with plush bedding, free wireless high-speed internet and a large work area. Each guest room contains a kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher, cooktop or oven, microwave and spacious cabinets. 

In addition, Scholar Hotel State College features Social Food + Drink, offering a full-service bar with a variety of specialty cocktails and a small plate menu. Social Food + Drink, located at the corner of Beaver Avenue and Pugh streets, is expected to open during the first quarter of 2021.
