Waldorf Astoria Osaka Celebrates Culinary Artistry and Innovation, from New York to Japan

Four world‑class restaurants and bars include signature Peacock Alley lounge, intimate cocktail bar Canes & Tales, elegant French restaurant Jolie Brasserie and specialty Japanese restaurant Tsukimi

OSAKA, Japan – Hilton’s iconic luxury brand, Waldorf Astoria, makes its debut in Japan with the opening of Waldorf Astoria Osaka. The 252-room hotel, designed by André Fu, features a suite of sophisticated dining and bar concepts that embody the brand’s legacy of elegant hospitality and culinary innovation. Since 1893, with the opening of The Waldorf and the creation of iconic dishes like the Waldorf Salad, Eggs Benedict, and Red Velvet Cake, and cocktails like the Rob Roy, Waldorf Astoria has defined culinary excellence. Waldorf Astoria Osaka proudly continues this legacy as a gastronomic pioneer in the 'Kitchen of Japan.'

“Travelers, chefs and gourmets worldwide know that Waldorf Astoria’s proud culinary legacy and cocktail culture are foundational to the brand and its global success,” said Adam Crocini, senior vice president and global head, Food and Beverage Brands, Hilton. “Waldorf Astoria Osaka furthers our commitment to timeless elegance, global sophistication and trailblazing innovation in one of the world’s premier gastronomic destinations.”

“Immersive culinary and bar experiences are the very essence of luxury,” said Candice D’Cruz, vice president of Luxury Brands, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “Each drink and dish tell a story, each bite and sip a tangible expression of the artistry, passion and talent of our team as we usher in a new era of luxury for the Waldorf Astoria brand in Asia Pacific.”

Rooted in a legacy of culinary innovation and embracing Japan’s unwavering commitment to quality, Waldorf Astoria Osaka’s culinary identity embodies refined gastronomy and connoisseurship. Each restaurant concept has been thoughtfully designed to reflect its unique space, creating a seamless, immersive experience with memorable design elements. The hotel also caters to families with a comprehensive junior gourmand menu, offering age-appropriate, nutritious, and flavorful options for children. Parents can dine with peace of mind, knowing their children’s meals are crafted with care, balancing flavor and health.

“Osaka is known as the ‘Kitchen of Japan’, and Waldorf Astoria brings a new level of distinction to its renowned culinary scene,” said Andrew Moore, general manager, Waldorf Astoria Osaka. “Each of our dining concepts – rooted in craftsmanship and driven by creativity – offers an experience that honors local heritage while reimagining it for today’s discerning traveler. From cherished classics to innovative omakase, our culinary offerings bring to life the soul of this vibrant city.”

Waldorf Astoria Osaka - Peacock Alley - Night

Peacock Alley: The Social Heart of Waldorf Astoria

A hallmark of the brand, Peacock Alley has long been a gathering place for society’s influential figures to see and be seen, setting the stage for cultural exchange, intellectual conversation, and the art of hospitality. The 128-seat Osaka location mirrors the grandeur of its New York counterpart while embracing a Japanese sensibility.

By day, Peacock Alley offers artisanal pastries, light lunches, and an exceptional afternoon tea featuring a curated selection of delicate sweets and indulgent savory bites. Signature offerings include the luxurious lobster roll wrapped in buttery brioche, Oscietra caviar atop bamboo charcoal macarons, and an array of handcrafted desserts such as red velvet cheesecake and mango-lychee gâteau. Champagne pairings and an exclusive Peacock Alley tea blend elevate the experience. As evening falls, the space transforms into a stylish haunt for handcrafted cocktails and fine wines, where guests can savor the artistry of mixology in an atmosphere that embodies both heritage and modern refinement.

Waldorf Astoria Osaka - Canes & Tales

Canes & Tales: A Romantic Celebration of Jazz’s Golden Age

A glamorous escape into a bygone era, Canes & Tales is a tribute to the Jazz Age where young and dynamic mixologists bring the era’s artistry to life with modern flair, evoking a world of whispered secrets, glittering nights, and unbridled elegance. Channeling the clandestine allure of speakeasy bars, this intimate 47-seat bar celebrates the brand’s rich cocktail history with a curated selection from the Waldorf Astoria Bar Book, brought to life through expertly executed tableside mixology. Every cocktail menu at the bar is designed around a specific tale from this iconic era, capturing the essence of a time when the night was young, the music was wild, and the possibilities were endless.

The opening menu is inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Tales of the Jazz Age, where each of the 11 short stories has been reimagined as a cocktail - a poetic blend of sophistication and mischief, indulgence and allure.  As a destination for global cocktail aficionados, Canes & Tales is proud to host members of the World’s 50 Best community, further cementing its place as a beacon of excellence in mixology.

Waldorf Astoria Osaka - Jolie Brasserie

Jolie Brasserie:  An Elegant and Effortlessly Chic French Brasserie

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, Jolie Brasserie is where sophistication meets a lively, cosmopolitan spirit in the heart of Osaka. Inspired by a French woman’s journey between Japan and France, the 132-seat restaurant offers authentic dishes grounded in classic French traditions. The menu incorporates Japanese influences, showcasing the finest local ingredients sourced in their prime. From Kyoto Nanatani duck confit to Kumamoto Akaushi steak frites, each dish is a testament to the harmony between French gastronomy and Japan’s rich culinary heritage, enhanced by carefully curated wine pairings.

At the heart of this culinary experience is a custom-designed Molteni cooking suite, a masterpiece of French craftsmanship that allows chefs to execute dishes with precision and artistry. This state-of-the-art kitchen centerpiece also serves as a visual symbol of excellence while creating an immersive and theatrical dining experience that celebrates the art of conviviality.

Waldorf Astoria Osaka - Tsukimi with Chef

Tsukimi: An Ode to the Moon

At Tsukimi, the art of traditional Japanese dining is celebrated in its purest form. Rooted in Japanese minimalism, the 61-seat restaurant features natural materials, clean lines, and soft lighting, evoking the tranquility of its namesake, a traditional moon-viewing experience. Private and semi-private dining areas enhance intimacy, while the signature sushi counter offers front-row views of true mastery.

The teppanyaki counters showcase purebred Tajima Kuroge Wagyu cows, aged a minimum of 36 months, offering an unparalleled depth of flavor and marbling. This purely omakase dining experience is further enhanced by complimentary omakase wine and sake pairings, carefully selected to complement each dish’s delicate nuances.

A meticulously curated tea and sake program features the finest regional brews, presented through intricate tea ceremonies that honor Japan’s rich heritage. For those seeking an innovative take on Japanese flavors, crafted Japanese cocktails add a contemporary twist, seamlessly blending tradition with modern mixology. Every element at Tsukimi transforms dining into an immersive celebration of Japanese culture, where precision, artistry, and authenticity converge.

Editor’s note: Tsukimi is the only restaurant in Waldorf Astoria Osaka that is not designed by Andre Fu.
